Annual. Blooms in spring. 5′ – 6′ tall. Full sun. ‘Old Spice Blend’ is a mixture of old heirloom Sweet Peas. They are very fragrant, large 2″ flowers that bloom into the heat of summer, and come in a wide range of colors including white, cream, pink, rose, scarlet, lavender, purple, bi-colors, and even striped flowers! An excellent choice for areas without long cool springs or for gardeners who are planting a little late. Basic sowing instructions are still the same as for other sweet peas in cold winter climates – plant as soon as you can work the soil in spring. In warm winter climates, sow from October to January for spring bloom. Generally blooms for 3-5 weeks. Removing all spent stalks and blooms immediately after they are done blooming will prolong the bloom period. Before planting, prepare your sight well. Choose a sunny, cool spot away from winds and heat-absorbing materials like brick and stone. A 1′ – 2′ deep bed that has been amended with compost or peat is ideal with the pH ranging from alkaline to neutral. Please note that Sweet Peas are inedible and poisonous.
