Pansy Swiss Giant Blue, Plant with sturdy stalks bearing large blue flowers with a black eye inside.
Perennial. In mild-winter areas, pansies provide a splash of winter and spring color. In colder climates, enjoy their big 2- to 3-inch blossoms spring through summer. Pansy is at home in borders, beds and containers, or between bulbs. Days to Sprout 10 - 21, Planting Dept .125 inches.
Start seeds indoors, 2 per pot or cell, in August. Place flat or pots in a dark room (or cover with black plastic) and keep temperature at 70 degrees Fahrenheit until sprouts appear. Where winters are mild, transplant seedlings in the fall 6 inches apart into soil enriched with compost. Where winters are cold, move seedlings into a cold frame and then transplant outdoors in early spring.

A delightful variety with long stemmed, 7cm (3in) flowers in 'old fashioned' pastel shades. The ideal variety to tone down the bright and brassy colours of other bedding plants and to provide a restful oasis of colour. A member of the Imperial strain, noted for vigour, flower size and free flowering ability.
Sow late winter/spring or late summer, 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in a good seed compost excluding light as darkness is beneficial. Germination usually takes 14-21 days at 19-25C (65-76F). Keep soil just moist and avoid high temperatures which will prevent germination.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow cool. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12in) apart in most soils, sun or part shade.
